Training for CRSO Staff

All CRSO clinical research coordinators and monitors undergo an extensive clinical research orientation program. Training at the CRSO includes instruction in the following areas:

  • History of research
  • Drug development and approval process
  • Ethics and the role of the Institutional Review Board
  • Good Clinical Practices
  • Code of Federal Regulations
  • International Conference on Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use guidelines
  • Federal and state regulations
  • Preceptor and shadowing opportunities
  • Mandatory continuing education

In order to maintain a high level of quality for our staff and their research studies, the CRSO requires all eligible coordinators to pass the Clinical Research Coordinator certification examination, administered by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, a nationally recognized organization that promotes effective clinical research.
